VIRTUAL CONCERT
Music Before 1800 brings to the holiday season a new touring concert based on music and stories of a forgotten tradition. Loosely based on Ben Jonson’s Christmas, His Masque, performed at the court of James I at 1616, Winter Wassail reveals the revelry that emerges when festivities are banned, when the night is long, and when gathering is difficult. James I’s marriage to Anne of Denmark in Oslo inspires our journey to encompass Scandinavian, Scottish, and Irish traditionals.
Norway’s Barokksolistene is joined by MB1800 favorites Edwin Huizinga (Acronym), Wen Yang (New York Baroque Incorporated), Ravenna Lipchik (Juilliard415), Andrew Gonzalez (Twelfth Night), and Samuel Budish (Ensemble Échappé).
Announcing a partnership with Performance Santa Fe.
